What Moves a Market Cap Target?

A price prediction is only as realistic as the market cap behind it. Keep these factors in mind.

What Is a Crypto Market Cap Calculator?

A quick definition, the formula and a worked example.

A crypto market cap calculator is a free online tool that tells you what price a cryptocurrency would have at a given market cap. You pick a coin, enter a target market cap, and the calculator divides it by the coin's circulating supply to give a price per coin. It also works the other way: enter a price and it shows the market cap that price would create.

Coin Market Cap Calculator uses live prices and supply data for thousands of coins, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, BNB, XRP and Dogecoin. Every coin has its own page with price targets, growth multiples and a calculator that updates in real time.

Market cap formula

Market Cap = Price x Circulating Supply

A coin priced at 2 dollars with 500 million coins in circulation has a market cap of 1 billion dollars.

Price at a target market cap

Price = Target Market Cap / Circulating Supply

A coin with 10 billion coins in circulation would trade at 10 dollars at a 100 billion dollar market cap.

How to Calculate a Coin Price from Market Cap

Four steps from target to price, using live supply data.

  1. Choose a coin from the list or open its dedicated page.
  2. Enter a target market cap such as 100B, 1T or the market cap of another coin.
  3. Read the price per coin that the target requires, plus the multiple from today’s price.
  4. Switch modes to enter a price and see the market cap it creates.

Who Uses a Market Cap Calculator?

Anyone who wants to judge a price on the size of the market behind it.

Where Our Crypto Data Comes From

Live, sourced and refreshed automatically.

Market caps, circulating supply, max supply and all time highs come from the CoinGecko API, one of the largest independent crypto data providers. Live price movements stream from a public exchange feed while your page is open, and the numbers refresh every 30 seconds if the stream is unavailable.

Fiat exchange rates for the converters come from a live currency rate feed and refresh every minute. Bitcoin history for the DCA calculator uses a public daily price dataset that goes back to 2010.

Everything here is for information and education. Calculator results are scenarios, not predictions, and nothing on this site is financial advice.

Crypto Market Cap Glossary

Plain English definitions of the terms used across the calculators.

Market Capitalization
The total value of all coins in circulation, found by multiplying the current price by the circulating supply.
Circulating Supply
The number of coins that are publicly available and trading in the market right now.
Total Supply
All coins that currently exist, including those that are locked, reserved or not yet released.
Max Supply
The hard limit on the number of coins that can ever exist. Bitcoin, for example, is capped at 21 million.
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV)
The value of a coin if its entire max supply were already in circulation: price x max supply.
Price Target
The price a coin would need to reach for its market cap to hit a chosen level, given its current supply.
All Time High (ATH)
The highest price a coin has ever traded at, often used as a reference when setting price targets.

Market Cap FAQ

What is market capitalization in crypto?

Market cap is the total value of all coins in circulation: price × circulating supply. It is the most common way to compare the size of different cryptocurrencies.

How do I calculate a coin’s future price?

Divide a target market cap by the circulating supply. For example, a coin with 10 billion tokens would trade at $10 per coin at a $100B market cap.

Where does the data come from?

Prices, market caps and supply figures come from the CoinGecko API. The page loads with fresh data and keeps updating live every 30 seconds while you use it.

What is a coin market cap calculator?

A coin market cap calculator is a tool that shows the price a cryptocurrency would have at a chosen market cap, or the market cap that a chosen price would create. It uses live supply data to do the maths for you.

What is the difference between market cap and fully diluted valuation?

Market cap uses the circulating supply, which is the coins trading today. Fully diluted valuation uses the max supply, including coins that are locked or not yet released. A big gap between them means a lot of supply is still to come.

Does a low coin price mean it can reach a high price?

Not necessarily. Price alone says nothing about size. A coin with trillions of tokens can have a large market cap at a tiny price, so it needs far more money to rise than a coin with a small supply. Always check the market cap target.

Can I calculate what Bitcoin or Ethereum would cost at a trillion dollar market cap?

Yes. Open the Bitcoin or Ethereum calculator, enter 1T as the target market cap and the tool shows the price per coin and how many times higher it is than today.

Is the Coin Market Cap Calculator free?

Yes. Every calculator, converter and coin page is free to use and needs no account or signup.

Can I add any coin to the calculator?

Thousands of coins are searchable, and each has its own calculator page with live data. Use the search on the home page to find one by name or ticker.

Is this financial advice?

No. The calculator shows mathematical scenarios only. Always do your own research before investing.
